Lewis Latimer designed carbon filaments for electric incandescent lamps
Lewis Latimer received a patent for his unique design of carbon filaments for the electric incandescent lamp sold by U.S. Electric Lighting Co. Latimers' invention made it possible for U.S. Electric to operate lights safely at a higher temperature.
Latimer was considered such a talent that eventually the Edison Pioneers hired him to join their company, stealing him away from U.S. Electric.
Lewis Latimer was a multi-faceted genius for inventions, patent drawings and legal writing. He was so knowledgeable in law that Edison chose him to be the chief litigator in patent conflicts. Talk about a talented man!

H.H. Reynolds. African American Inventor.....
H.H. Reynolds invented a ventilator that allowed air to flow into railroad cars and at the same time keep out dust and soot. This was due to the demand of passengers who wanted more air while riding the trains.
Reynolds spoke of his invention to his manager, who in turn created a working model.
The Pullman company tried to obtain patent rights for Reynolds' idea but Reynolds sued the company and won the right to profit from HIS invention!!
We have been brainwashed in this country to believe that EVERYTHING that exists-exists because a white man invented it, Edison is just one example. But the reality is there were are still are many great scientists and inventors in the Black community.
Research and get to know YOUR history folks, because what you see isn't always what IT IS!

Professor Ernest E. Just....A Bit of Black History
Howard University Professor Ernest E. Just (please read more on this man. He's fascinating!) graduated from Dartmouth College magna cum laude and from there went into science.
His research was key in proving that without ectoplasm, cell fertilization is impossible!
Just's research transformed the understanding of cell functioning & human reproduction. He conducted research in Germany, Paris & Italy. Ernest Just was a brilliant & dedicated scientist who was treated like trash by white north americans who had the ability to promote his accomplishments or hide them, they chose to do the latter and that is why he traveled abroad.
